Simple Machines Project
For this project students will think about what they have learned about the types of simple machines: wedge, pulley, screw, inclined plane (ramp), lever, and wheel and axle. Then create a simple machine to make work easier.
As we conclude our science unit on Simple Machines students will create a project related to simple machines using one of the options below:
1. You can build a simple machine to demonstrate for the class.
2. You can draw a simple machine and explain how it works to the class. Be sure to label the parts of your machine.
3. You can write a description of a simple machine and share it to the class. Be sure to include descriptive words, and check your story for spelling and punctuation.
4. You can create a game that uses a simple machine to play with the class. You need to write the objective of the game and the game rules. Be sure to try your game at home before bringing it to class.
This is a student project. Parents are asked to encourage and guide their child, but please allow your child to do the thinking and work for this activity.
Projects are due on Friday, October 7.
