In math are working on data and graphing. We learned that data is the information you collect and that the mode is the number that appears the most in the data. So if you asked 10 children how many pets they have and they answered 3, 2, 2, 1, 2, 4, 1, 2, 3, 1, the mode would be two. Two is the mode because the most children said they had two pets. Then we learned how to calculate the range of the data. This is the difference between the highest number and the lowest number in the data set. In the case above, the range would be three. The highest number of pets the children said was four and the least number of pets was one. So the difference between four and one is three.
We learned to identify contractions and use them correctly in in our writing. We also studied the two words the contractions represent. In grammar we are learning about present and past tense verbs.
Thanks for reading my weekly highlights. I do enjoy communicating with parents in this way. I would appreciate it if you could drop me an email letting me know that you are reading this. Also, if you have any comments regarding the website, I would like to know what is working and what could be improved.
