We had a short week so we continued to work on place value in math. Our lessons focused on ordering and comparing numbers up to 1000.
We are continuing with our Earth Science unit. Several students brought in rocks to share with the class. We learned that wind and weather can change rocks. Students observed and discussed different ways that rocks can change. We are having a great time being geologists in class.
Thirteen parents are signed up to help with our field trip on Monday, May 5! Thank you for the overwhelming support. We will continue to study Earth Science in preparation for our field trip to the Youth Science Institute.
We studied irregular past tense verbs and practiced using them in sentences. This will help us to use the correct verb form when speaking and writing. Here are some examples:
Also, we worked on plural possessive nouns. We practiced placing the apostrophe in the correct place when showing ownership in plural nouns such as birds, sheep, and mice. Here are some examples:
In our Scholastic News we read about a person who saw a problem with trash in the Mississippi river and decided to head a clean up operation. Ask your child what are some of the things they found while cleaning out the river.
We ended our day on Thursday with a Dinosaur Egg hunt and an impromptu song and dance festival.
