On Friday, students presented their "me bags" to help us learn more about each other. It was a good way to get to know our classmates and practice speaking in front of a group. One student brought his favorite book, The Book With No Pictures, by B.J. Novak. The children were quite entertained by my cold read of this book. They loved it so much that they shouted "again!" at the end. Ask your child how a book with no pictures can be so much fun. You might enjoy watching the clip below of the author reading the book to some students. Our class reaction was similar to this group of students.
I introduced the classroom scoreboard that allows students to earn activities of their choice when the class is on task and following the rules. We made bar graphs about our class birthdays and letters in our names.
We have a great bunch of kids in our class and I'm looking forward to all the exciting things we will discover together this year.
