We started the week by writing a plot line summary of our story Dragon Goes Shopping. We also worked on subtraction in math. We learned that by knowing the addition fact, we can more easily figure out the answer to the subtraction fact. We also took our first benchmark tests of the year. We had to learn to bubble the answer sheet. That was the most difficult part of the task! Thirteen students thought that taking the benchmarks was a fun thing to do. Six students did not like doing the tests. (Several students were doing a small group activity and did not vote.) During the benchmarks we hosted some students from Mrs. Purtell's class. Another exciting activity was going to the computer lab and starting to use SuccessMaker Reading.
One hundred percent of the class recited the poem, a few needed a little help from their friends. Also, we took our spelling test today. Last week's test is in today's Friday Folder. This week's test will be in next Friday's Folder.
We learned about being a good citizen. We learned good citizens help other people and are kind. Also, they show lots of respect, are responsible, and fair. In addition, we said good citizens follow the golden rule: treat others the way you want to be treated.
